Today I would like to share my experience with By Wishtrend mandelic acid 5% skin prep water.

Back in July I received an email from Wishtrend inviting me to try out their new product. I of course replied saying I would love to try out their new product.

The only info I had was this :

[BY WISHTREND] Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water

An exfoliating treatment formulated with Mandelic Acid, which works gently even on sensitive skin. Removing built up dead skin to enhance the effects of following skin care products, it helps even out a dull and/ or uneven skin tone, and smoothens rough skin.

Key ingredients: Mandelic acid, Beta-Glucan, Panthenol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia cordata Extract

How to use: After cleansing, apply an adequate amount of product to the skin and pat lightly to absorb. If more effective exfoliating is desired, saturate a cotton pad with product and use it to wipe the skin. You can use it more than 3 times a week, but please adjust it according to your skin type. If use in the morning, use sunscreen.

I must say I am a bit scared of using acid on my face. I previously had a very bad experience with vitamin c so I decided to be very cautious with this one.

The packaging

This mandelic acid comes in this shiny aluminium like orange box.

You have the explanation of the product in Korean and English on each side.

The product itself comes in a see through brown plastic bottle.

It once again mentions the explanation in English and Korean.

This bottle contains 120ml of product. At the bottom of the bottle you can find the production and end date of the product.

To open the bottle you just need to turn it and unscrew it. Simple and easy.

The product

First of all, what is mandelic acid?

Mandelic acid is an AHA, a more gentle acid as it doesn’t penetrate too far into the skin. It works on the surface of the skin.

This apparently is a gentle exfoliator and has 3 main action :

  • It’s good for people with acne or cystic acne, as it has antibacterial effect and can regulate the sebum secretion.
  • It helps with hyperpigmentation as it loosen up the skin cellules and provides a more even complexion.
  • This helps with winkles and fine lines as the mandelic acid helps in the acceleration of cell turn over: your skin will regenerate faster.

As per the bottle, this skin prep water is an exfoliator, a gentle acid peel. You have less chances of having a bad reaction as this mostly works on the surface of the skin.

I received this item at the beginning of August so I have been using this for a month now.

At first I would only use it once a week to make sure my skin would not react badly to it and then made the interval shorter. It has now been almost 2 weeks that I have been using this once a day.

Because this can cause for your skin to be more sensitive, I would only use this at night.

I would wash my face and then swipe this all over my face and neck.

I was really amazed that even after washing my face, this peel would still find dirt/ dead skin.

My cotton pad would always turn brown. It didn’t matter if I cleansed my face with micellar water, facial wash of even with a cleansing oil. I would still be able to remove dirt from my face.

I have been using this peel regularly for the past two weeks, I can feel that the pimples of my right cheek is slowly getting smaller and less red. I definitely feel the difference when I touch it.

I also do think that my complexion is slowly looking a bit more healthier/glowier and my sun tanned forehead is getting lighter.

This peel is also pretty easy to use as you just apply it on a cotton pad and swipe it on your face. It is also unscented and just looks like water. This does not feel sticky or stings my face.

I have been breaking out recently but I’m sure the mandelic acid was not the reason.

This along with A’pieu madecasoside cream has helped calm my breakouts out.

Conclusion

This is my first acid where my skin did not react badly to.

C20 and CosRx BHA a-sol are not for me but this mandelic acid is a completely different story!

I like how easy this is to use and does not sting my face. After one swipe you see how much dead skin can still be removed even after cleansing your face.

My breakout calmed down thanks to this so I will be sure to continue using this… And finishing the bottle.

Hopefully I will see even more change on my face!
